localization.trends.2019.2020

Another year is coming to an end! While contemplating the year which flew by, we also need to look ahead and plan what we will be doing in 2020. This is why today we are sharing with you our predictions for the top loc trends in 2020, based on conversations with our clients.

#1. Machine translation with post-editing

This definitely deserves the top spot on our list. In the past year, we have seen an incredible expansion of the use of machine translation with post-editing by either the clients themselves, or our translators.

We agree that it’s a great approach for many types of content, including website translation. Combined with a proper translation management system, which enables you to post-edit the content in context on your website, it is a trend which you should research in more detail.

#2. Video translation

You simply cannot avoid videos when talking about localization trends for 2020! We are sure that every website will have some sort of video content which, unfortunately, won’t be universally understood by all target audiences.

Given the focus companies are placing on localization, it is only natural that they also need to translate video content. After all, if you prepare a video explaining your product or service, you want to make it accessible to everyone. How do you do this?

The easiest way is to add subtitles to the video and translate them using an adequate Translation Management System. This will enable you to upload both the video and the .srt file and translate the content within a browser while looking at the video preview, to avoid adjusting the time codes once the translation is done.

#3. Education and training translation

It has to be a position on our loc trends for 2020 because webinars and educational videos have never been more popular! Now, subtitling a short video is quite easy, but what do you do when you want to translate your whole series of educational and training videos? Let’s assume you have colleagues and partners who can work on some of the content, while you need to outsource translations into other languages. You would also like to have reviewers check all the translations.

The truth is, doing all of this has never been easier. You just need an advanced Translation Management System that will enable you to select different workflows and to assign different roles to your users.

#4. Customer service live audio translation

It’s quite easy to forget this with all the apps installed on our phones, but people do really still use smartphones to make calls. The problem arises when the person being called cannot understand the person calling,  like in a customer service support call.

We are proud to say that we are working on a new feature that will enable our clients, and their users, to request support and leave reviews in any language they prefer! Our system will transcribe and translate the content, making it easier for all the participants in the conversation to resolve the issues at hand.

Making localization plans for 2020?

If you are interested in new features we will be releasing soon, keep checking in, or reach out for a call.
